Launched our Warrior 165 and found that steering locked after laid up for a year. (Ughhhh .... ). Suspected seized cable but saved removal by following the video and noting other possible problems. Issue was seized rod in tube, knocked it out and cleaned up with lots of WD40 and pipe cleaner on a drill. Had to be a bit braver than I would have liked but massive improvement in the end. Thanks, a must see video for diagnosing steering problems.

I usually use an angle grinder tapir the edge of the threads spinning as I go

* USE this kit instead, and replace with NGK "marine" plugs: Yekepro T38207 ($23) !!! That way you don't dump drilling debris into the cylinder and destroy the engine !!! PS: I don't care if Yamaha does call it an outboard "motor", if you call an "engine" a "motor" in the airforce, you will do KP !!!

If my outboard is in gear will the tilt and trim from the outboard also not work?

Thank You I rebuilt my water pump reinstalled my Foot (Lower Unit) No water with muffs.Placed it in a barrel up to the water intake’s and no water. Removed the lower unit 3 more times to re check my work. Scratched my head,slept on it and tried again the next morning NADA! Searching the IT and found your posting. Repositioning the engine in order to get deeper in the barrel and WooHoo, my work is good and proves a point to me that muffs can’t be trusted nor can a barrel if you are not close to the cavation plate. Thanks again and as you said if it were a self priming pump things could have worked but now I know. Stay Safe and Enjoy the Water ✌️

I blew my 2007 150 E-Tec. Big End - cylinder 6. The bore lining is badly gouged & the crankshaft where the bearing sits is also damaged. In your opinion can it/is it worth to fix it or just good for parts ?

Do the evenrudes not have that drive shaft spacer? Displayed at the end with the 2 smaller O rings?

I like the idea of using a ratchet strap to help hold the unit in place while you line everything up great idea!!

So what happens if the bendix gear comes out, but still doesn't engage the flywheel? Got a brand new starter, not supposed to have shims, it's for a newer chevy. Bench tested it and everything. It works, bendix comes out it just won't engage the flywheel.

So what's the most common problem with this motor that stops it from running?

Why not use the copper grease on the lower unit bolts?

I have always installed pil seaps back to bqck or the lipss facing water & other facing oil. Saw this and questioned it. I can't the answer for a 01 honda bf90 lol.
